Abstract
As societies grapple with global challenges, the emergence of 6G networks offers promising solutions through advanced telecommunications technologies while supporting sustainable development. This study aims to explore the role of 6G networks in achieving sustainable development goals. By analyzing existing literature, identifying drivers and challenges and supporting it with keyword frequency and thematic evolution analyses, this research aims to shed light on the opportunities and obstacles in adapting 6G technology from a sustainable development perspective. The analysis reveals a growing interest in the role of 6G technology in achieving sustainability goals in direct relation with energy efficiency, IoT, blockchain, smart cities and data security. While the study acknowledges the potential improvements in efficiency and sustainability brought by 6G technologies, it also identifies challenges such as energy consumption and costs. The study underlines the need for deeper understanding and examination of comprehensive strategies and solutions in order to address these obstacles efficiently. As a result, the integration of 6G technologies presents opportunities for economic growth, productivity and innovation while contributing to achievement of sustainability goals. Future research should focus on optimizing energy usage, developing innovative approaches and addressing technical challenges of sustainable and efficient operations of 6G technologies.
