Abstract

In this study, we showed that an electronic warfare system can find its range to a radar if it is tracked by the radar. First, the time differences between the pulses sent by the radar are processed and converted into a two-dimensional range image. The empty corridor on this image shows the changing range to the target. We proposed three different methods to estimate the range to the radar by detecting this corridor. The first method uses DBSCAN and SVM methods together, while the others are methods based on particle swarm optimization (PSO) solving minimax and custom cost functions. Numerical analyzes showed that PSO-based optimization methods can estimate ranges quite well.
