Abstract

The synthesis of hexylated triethylenetetramine (HHTETA), a ligand for homogenous atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP), was discussed. It was found that when HHTETA was dissolved in S, CuBr and CuBr2 was extracted from aqueous solutions almost quantitatively. The use of HHTETA as a ligand for copper-mediated ATRP in suspension or emulsion polymerization processes was also elaborated.
