Abstract

Synthesis and characterization of thermomesogenic polysiloxanes with 2,5-dihydropyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione units in the main chain was studied. Thermotropic phase behavior of the polysiloxanes was investigated using polarizing microscopy. This class of red polymers showed the predicted enantiothermotropic properties. Preliminary studies indicated that the polymers could be of potential use as electroluminescent materials.
