Abstract

Sepiolites are good fillers considering their fibrous structure and large specific surface areas. The functional groups on the surfaces of the sepiolite make strong interactions with the additions. The long fibrous can be modified with polymers to make the surfaces compatible the matrix material. The effects of the polymer adsorption on the surface of the sepiolite changes the colloidal, thermal, and structural properties of sepiolite and gives some clues about the interactions, and adsorption mechanisms. In this chapter, the structural and surface properties of the sepiolite were given in detail. Also, the interactions of polymer and sepiolite were discussed in detail in order to understand the effects of the modification of the sepiolite surfaces with polymer.
