Abstract

Turkish building sector proved itself at international level, and attained a power to cope with developed nations thanks to sufficient technological transfer. Apart from high quality buildings constructed in Turkiye, however, the quality lacks just at the project phase at houses and small-scale work places extending to material and application defects at construction phase. Urban development works go on with tremendous problems because of irregular and ordinary urbanisation. The main reason for this disorder in urbanisation is that the supervising authority is an official one, and so, no qualified and technically skilled staff is employed by state due to lower wages. Therefore, since Turkish consumers need more time to be conscious technically over building quality and building safety, the supervising apparatus will be put on the focus. Consumer is left only with the right to select the quality in vision, and because of knowing no more about structural system quality, such consumer fails to make an assessment on building safety.
