Abstract

The gamma ray plots indicate that distinct gamma ray pattern exists for the Lower Silurian Qusaiba Shale reflecting its lithology and depositional environment. The statistical distributions of gamma ray parameters as well as well as the correlation patterns of Th/K and Th/U ratios provide significant evidence about the sources of sediments and environment of deposition.
