Abstract

1-Substituted pyrroles such as 1-(hydroxymethyl)pyrrole, 1-(3-hydroxypropyl) pyrrole, 1-H-1-pyrrolylmethyl 4-methyl-1-benzenesulfonate, 1-H-1-pyrrolyl-propyl 4-methyl-1-benzenesulfonate, and 1-H- pyrrolylmethyloctanoate were synthesized and oxidative polymerized and copolymerized with pyrrole by using (NH4)2Ce(NO 3)6 and FeCl3. Some of the copolymers were slightly soluble in DMF and DMSO. The products were characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR, and four-point probe conductivity.
