Abstract

Energy demand for alternative resources increases day by day. The solar energy is one of the most preferred sustainable energy sources. Building a solar energy facility encounters the problem of alteration solar radiation. Literature shows that defining solar radiation can be done by regional models. Therefore, estimation of solar radiation potential for specified region which is Turkey should be done partially. Hence, the south and north region of Turkey is evaluated by means of solar radiation models on the horizontal surface for the clean air conditions. The examination is done under three stations of each region. As selected models represent monthly average of daily global solar radiation for specific stations, the responses of each model differ due to not only region but also each station of Turkey. In order to define the accuracy and performance of the models, t statistical examination is done for each station. The results meet the expectations by representing different models are suitable for particular regions. On the other hand, the solar radiation models on the horizontal surface for the clean air conditions are proposed to the literature for stations of north and south region of Turkey.
