Abstract

Perovskite buffer layers of SrTiO3, LaAlO3, PbTiO3, and BaZrO3 were deposited using a sol-gel process from solutions derived from basic acetates and alkoxides. Homogenous, crack-free, and dense films of perovskite were deposited onto Ni tapes between temperatures of 600 °C and 750 °C by adjusting the concentration of precursors in the solutions used as material for YBCO surface coated conductors. These films were characterized by SEM, EDS and XRD. SrTiO3 and PbTiO3 buffer layers on Ni tapes were produced for the sol-gel YBCO surface coated conductor development.
