Abstract

Single phase squirrel cage induction motor (SPIM) is widely used in both domestic and industrial applications because of its rough and simple structure. Different kinds of applications bring different optimal operating condition requirements. Starting of the single phase motor with the direct-line connection causes high starting current, high torque ripple in many applications. Because of these drawbacks, motor starting control with the power electronic circuits is needed where the soft starting is required. In this study, a soft starter circuit for a single phase motor is designed, implemented and the main outputs of the drive circuit are presented.
