Abstract

The use of renewable energy, which is more encouraged together with increasing sustainability and environmental concerns, highlighted the issue of energy technology transformation. Social acceptance is a highly significant component of renewable energy technology implementation since it can affect the time and effort required to implement a policy or technology and its effectiveness can depend on public participation. It is crucial to know the perspective of public before making renewable energy policies to be able to take necessary actions that might positively affect the acceptance of such policies. Therefore, in this study, after factors affecting social acceptance are categorized as benefits, opportunities, costs and risks, the alternative policies are prioritized with respect to these criteria by using an approach based on interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy (IVIF) AHP and interval-valued Pythagorean fuzzy Benefits, Opportunities, Costs, Risks (BOCR) analysis. The results obtained from four total score functions are compared and Option 4 is selected to be the best policy in terms of social acceptability.
