Abstract

In this paper, an antenna for microwave brain stroke imaging application is proposed. The designed antenna has a coaxial probe feed together with planar inverted type structure. Patch antenna has two parallel arms with same length but with different widths. Also, by use of two capacitive rings increase in the bandwidth is obtained. Total size of the antenna including the ground plane is 60 × 60 × 20.4 mm3, 0.12λo × 0.12λo × 0.05λo at the center frequency of 617 MHz, Antenna can be easily fabricated with low manufacturing cost. Also, designed antenna has an impedance bandwidth of 98% from 315 MHz to 920 MHz, Finally, the antenna is also matched with a commercially available coupling medium, which is necessary for microwave biomedical imaging applications.
