Abstract

In this paper, error performance of a multiple-relay dual-hop cooperative communication system that use distributed selection combining at the destination is investigated. In the system, all the channels have composite fading and shadowing effects modeled by generalized-K distribution. The amplify and forward method is used at the relays. A new closed-form symbol error rate expression is derived analytically by using the cumulative distribution function of the signal-to-noise ratio at the destination, which is obtained based on the moment generating function approach with Padé approximation. Simulation results are also presented to verify the analytical results.
