Abstract
This study was performed to develop a cost-effective method for copper leaching of a chalcopyrite concentrate. Thermal Characteristics of each sample were determined by DTA and TGA to define the temperature range where sulfate formation occurred. Based on thermal analysis, 600 C was selected for the tests. Copper extraction rates at different roasting times as 1, 2 and 3 hours was investigated in detail. The products of roasting were characterized by XRD and ICP analysis. The highest recovery of 85% Cu was achieved at 0.5 hours leaching after roasting at 600°C for 3 hours, and there is no Fe extraction detected in leaching experiments.
