Abstract
This study focuses on the assessment of potential seismic impacts from two active segments of the North Anatolian Fault running across the Sea of Marmara. Two seismic scenarios with moment magnitudes of Mw 6.9 and Mw 6.7 were developed for individual segment rupture, and the third one with the magnitude of Mw 7.2 was developed for simultaneous activation of both segments. 15,871 existing buildings were grouped into 10 main classes. Each class was assigned a respective capacity curve and a set of fragility curves that determine the probability of exceeding one of the following five damage states: none, slight, moderate, extensive, and complete.
