Abstract

Sedimentation of concentrated clays has always been difficult and taken long times due to their nature and having small particle sizes. Sedimentation behaviors of clay mixtures, taken from Kaiemaden A.Ş., prior to being used in the ceramic production, were investigated. The effects of pulp density, flocculant addition and ultrasonic treatment on the sedimentation of clays were examined and discussed in relation to their chemical and physical properties.
