Abstract
The scaling of thermal hysteresis at the nematic-smectic-A transition in a binary mixture was studied by the photon transmission method. Under linearly varying temperature in the frame of the transmitted photon intensity and temperature, thermal hysteresis loops were obtained. After the synthesis, the monomers were used without additional purification. The results show that the area of hysteresis loops increases with the temperature scanning rate and exhibits a scaling behavior, with an exponent equal to 0.692.
