Abstract

In this study, the behaviour of different commercially available magnesia and magnesia-zirconia refractory samples have been investigated in situ, in a container furnace. The results of the study indicate that, frosterite formation, which is the cause of silica bursting, has a similar development in magnesia and magnesia-zirconia bricks.
