Abstract
Power transformers are a critical and costly component of power systems, making their longevity essential for maintaining system reliability. The design of these transformers plays a significant role in determining their inductance and reactance, which directly impacts their mechanical strength. This study explores how axial displacements of the windings affect the leakage reactance of transformers. We analyzed four scenarios: moving the entire low voltage winding and the entire high voltage winding to both the upper and lower sides along the axial direction. Our results show that both positive and negative displacements lead to a similar increase in leakage reactance. This finding highlights a key relationship between winding positioning and electromagnetic performance, emphasizing the importance of precise mechanical alignment in transformer design and operation. Ultimately, these insights can help optimize transformer performance under various displacement conditions, enhancing reliability and efficiency in power systems.
