Abstract

In this paper, an efficient Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) raw data simulation regarding both the scene and the target is proposed. The simulator generates time domain data by convolving the surface and transmitted signal transfer functions. The input of the simulator is the addition of digital elevation model and the target model. Without a prior knowledge about the shape of the target and the scene, the simulator extracts the reflectivity map and generates the raw data regarding the ratio of the surface height deviation to the wavelength. As a result a new approach is developed for SAR raw data simulation in terms of computational efficiency and reflection computation accuracy.
