Abstract

Within this paper, we considered the positioning technique exploiting the fingerprints based on Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) values recovered from access points (APs). We focused on the positioning error performance and obtained two performance bounds in closed-form, one of which is the union-bound performance, and the other one is the performance analysis based on Craig's formula applied on the Voronoi decision regions for all binary combinations of all APs. We showed that Craig's formula based performance analysis is more efficient and applicable to optimize the positioning system for the better performance.
