Abstract

Destructive and non-destructive methods are used to detect reinforcement in load-bearing elements in reinforced concrete structures. By using non-destructive methods, reinforcements in concrete can be detected without causing any damage to the structures. The radar method is an effective nondestructive method. In this study, an effective imaging algorithm is proposed with the signals collected from reinforced concrete structures by the radar method. Since the collected signals were in a dominant clutter, this clutter was first cleared and the strong scattering iron reinforcements in the concrete were accurately detected. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated with the signals collected from the prepared sample concrete structures.
