Abstract

This paper describes the preparation and characterization of the Al2O3-TiO2 powders for plasma spray coatings. The Al2O3-TiO2 powders were fabricated from an aqueous solution of Al nitrate and Ti ethoxide precursors using chemical synthesis. The powders were calcined at 650°C for 1 h and then pellet samples were sintered at 1300°C for 1 h in air. These powders were characterized by SEM, EDS, and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the particle sizes of Al2O3-TiO2 powders were found to be between 10 and 45μm.
