Abstract

The most common technique for determining trace amounts of metal ions is preconcentrating the element to be determined. Following this, the concentrated material can be analyzed by spectrophotometric methods. This report discusses the results on the preconcentration of a highly toxic ion, cadmium, on a polymeric matrix. The polymeric resins used are PMMA, PMAN, and their copolymers, all synthesized by GTP.
