Abstract
In this study soluble, azide containing poly(2,5-dithienylpyrrole) derivative (PSNS-N3) was synthesized by chemical polymerization and the structural characterization of the polymer was achieved via NMR, FTIR, CV, GPC, UV-Vis and Fluorescence studies. The polymer was considered as a key-intermediate for the synthesis of multifunctional, multipurpose, soluble PSNSs and it was subjected to post polymerization functionalization which was achieved through very simple click reaction by using two different alkynes (ethynylferrocene and alkyne-fluores). The outcomes of our studies have indicated the successful post polymerization functionalization of PSNS-N3 with both electroactive and fluorophore groups without compromising the solubility and structure of the polymer backbone. Our study indicated prospect of post polymerization functionalization in fine-tuning of the optical and electrochemical properties of PSNSs for the first time literature.
