Abstract

A parametric study on the influence of different parametres to the joint shear strength was presented. To predict the failure modes and loads of the tests of experimental databases, a strut and tie model with new truss model was used. The truss and strut mechanism determined the joint shear, recommended some designs and predicted the modes and load failure accurately. The model predicted that the column bar ratio had no influence on joint shear strength and was independent of column axial load.
