Abstract

Textiles for the home are the products discussed here with particular emphasis on the development of the industry in Turkey. With textiles for the home exports of more than $1 billion in 2001 Turkey is a formidable force in this field. Its estimated world market export share is 8.5%. Germany, the USA, France and the UK head the list of countries importing such goods from Turkey and collectively account for almost 70% of total Turkish exports. This industry is now responsible for 3% of the total exports of the country. Details of the Turkish products now available show how large and diverse is their range while quality management systems using ISO 9000 series standards are becoming the norm. A list of quality tests is shown in table IV.
