Abstract
In this work, an optimization approach based on genetic algorithm (GA) to the synthesis of rectangular microstrip antenna elements with thick substrates for a given resonance frequency and given half-power beamwidths in the E and H planes is presented. In order to avoid high computational cost, simple closed form equations for the synthesis procedure have been used. This synthesis approach is tested for different examples.
