Abstract

The paper is focusing the comparison of transverse laminated synchronous reluctance motor (TLA) and squirrel cage induction motor for the same power ratings as 4 kW. The motors are general purpose industrial motors which are having the same stator layout but different rotors. The comparison is made in terms of electrical quantities such as induced voltage, current magnetic quantities such as the air gap flux density and other performance indicators such as torque, efficiency, cost. The finite element analysis and experimental data are used for the comparison.
