Abstract

Electrospinning is by far the most widely investigated technology to produce nanofibers. However, there have been various mechanical (or nonelectro) methods to produce nanofibers that overcome some limitations of electrospinning, such as production rate, safety concerns, and dependency on the electrical properties of solutions. Systems such as melt blowing, solution blowing, and centrifugal spinning are commercially available. Other methods such as drawing, template synthesis, and phase inversion are being still investigated in laboratories. In this chapter, an updated review on nonelectro fiber-spinning techniques, along with their advantages and final applications, is presented.
