N2 - The main purpose of this paper is to design a multiple criteria evaluation model to perform a comparative assessment on container ports in Turkiye with respect to port competitiveness requirements. The port of Ambarli, Gemport, Haydarpasa, Izmir, and Mersin are considered as alternatives to evaluate within this study. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and the Fuzzy TOPSIS are determined as a hybrid evaluation methodology to outline the weights on evaluation factors and to identify the performance of the each container port correspondingly. As the potential users of the container terminals, the leading container firms in Turkish maritime industry are being involved into the evaluation process to increase the utility of the proposed model outcomes. The practical results of this study can be utilized for supporting modernization facilities of the existing container ports and appraising of the new investments on container terminal projects in advance.
