N2 - This study adopts both quantitative and qualitative methods to analyse pedestrian movement along Istanbul’s Istiklal Street. The aim is to uncover the complex relationship between pedestrian dynamics and urban design elements, emphasizing spatial and temporal factors. The findings indicate that movement patterns are influenced by different sections of the street based on design, utility, and pedestrian attributes. The study identifies collective behavioural trends shaped by the physical environment, land use and interpersonal interactions. The research highlights the need for a comprehensive three-dimensional approach that is critical for guiding pedestrian-centred and human-scale urban design decisions, considering social-spatial, function-design, and quantitative-qualitative aspects.
