Abstract

In this paper, a multiband monopole patch antenna is designed for biomedical imaging applications. The frequency band of the antenna consists of three narrowband regions including 1.1 GHz, 2.75 GHz and 3.92 GHz. To increase the directivity of the antenna, a metallic reflector is placed at the back of the antenna. Also, antenna size is intended to be kept at its minimum since the microwave imaging applications mostly includes closed region configurations. Antenna is also tested for matching medium configurations, and it is observed that the antenna has become a dual band antenna at frequencies 1 GHz and 2.88 GHz when εr of the medium is 20.
