Abstract
This study presents a multisensor fusion approach for corona discharge detection under +DC and -DC excitations. DC corona discharge manifests in several modes. These discharge modes were generated via a hemispherical rod-plane electrode with a gap spacing of 6 cm. The voltage applied to the rod electrode was increased up to the breakdown. After the corona discharge inception, the light intensities and light patterns of corona discharge were recorded by a corona camera and a digital single-reflex camera, respectively. The sound levels of the corona discharge modes were analyzed through a sound level meter. The corona discharge pulses of the specific corona modes were investigated via a high-frequency current transformer (HFCT). The effectiveness of sensors for diagnosing corona discharge modes was analyzed. A framework for diagnosing all corona discharge modes was generated to enhance detection performance.
