Abstract

This study mainly concentrates on the requirements of the Noise Emission Control Code of International Maritime Organization (IMO) that describes the standards on preventing the occurrence of potentially hazardous noise levels on board ships. In the initial stages of the study, a literature review, including the related regulations and their implementation on noise emissions and existing techniques on control stage. Especially, the significance of the reliability and maintainability concerns for ship management companies on the technological needs related to the ship design and operations are discussed in advance. The expected infrastructure of the each technique are investigated and outlined correspondingly. Consequently, the most adequate integration method, interfacing with the different kinds of techniques to reduce the level of noise emission, is proposed.
