Abstract

In this paper two methods of controlling the grain size in gamma (TiAl) - type alloys using mechanical alloying (MA) and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) are presented. In one method selective MA of the surface regions of powder particles occurs, while in the other approach a mixture of unmilled and MA'd powder were blended together. In both cases the HIP'd material consisted of mixed large and small grain sizes.
