Abstract

In this study, how the concentrations of PM10 and SO2 pollutants changed on a seasonally, monthly, weekly and daily basis in Edirne, Turkey was investigated. The concentration values that were measured hourly during January 2012 and June 2018 term and R software was used to analyze and visualize the data. The results show that the concentration of pollutants changes with weather temperature and wind speed. In addition, cold and occasionally snowy winters and hot summers are observed climatologically in Edirne. According to the results, both pollutant (PM10, SO2) concentrations increase in winter months and decrease in summer months. Also the pollutant concentration values decrease when the wind speed is equal to or more than 1 m/s in contrast with pollution levels in slower wind speed circumstances.
