Abstract

Microwave hyperthermia, which locally increases body temperature, offers significant improvement in tumor treatment for breast cancer. During treatment planning, breast models are typically created from magnetic resonance images due to their high resolution, but this process is costly. In order to reduce costs, the hyperthermia performance of breast models created at low resolution has been investigated. The resolution of the breast model was reduced using Gaussian filters with variances of σ =3D 0.1, 0.5,1, 2, 5,10. Treatment planning was conducted for each model, and their temperature focusing performances were examined.
