Abstract
Turbulence characteristic over smooth bottom under the unsteady flow condition studied. Unsteady flow generated with gate opening in the horizontal laboratory flume. Velocity measurements achieved PIV near the bed. Unsteady flow is separated as base flow (steady), rising limb, peak zone, and falling limb. Turbulent intensities were determined by using polynomial fitting to the stationary part and fluctuation part determined. Experimental results indicated RMS values of the fluctuation getting higher at rising limbs, especially in a vertical (upward) direction.
