Abstract

The living polymerization of isobutylene (IB) coinitiated by methylaluminum chlorides was investigated. The investigation was performed in hexanes solvent mixture at -80 °C in the presence and absence of a proton trap. The polymerization was found to be slower in the presence of the sample proton trap. The results show that at higher concentrations the polymerization is uncontroled due to the extremely rapid polymerization.
