Abstract

As data traffic and mobile device usage continue to surge, ensuring the provision of reliable and stable services becomes paramount. While 5G networks hold the promise of addressing capacity limitations, they also present challenges in optimizing handover processes. This paper undertakes a review of contemporary handover decision algorithms within the 5G context, categorizing them based on their decision-making procedures, streamlining input parameters, evaluating performance, and elucidating employed strategies. This study provides a generalized depiction of the handover decision mechanism within 5G networks, thereby supporting the evolution of advanced handover optimization methods.
