Lean and digitalization synergy: evaluation of human dimension in healthcare

Abstract

The aim of this study is a comprehensive literature review to determine the common criteria by considering the human dimension for Lean and Digital transformation and to show that these two transformations can create synergies. At the same time, providing ideas for practitioners and managers for their application areas, to facilitate, guide and contribute to future studies in this study. Human dimension is among the most important sources of digital and lean transformation. For this reason, a literature review was made in these two areas and a common area was determined. The common areas obtained will be a quality approach to first decide which points to focus on in hospitals and will be a guide for future studies. Due to the fact that human resources are one of the most important factor in success related transformations, a comprehensive literature review has been conducted and evaluated. Four fundamental common enablers have been identified, which are Vision & Strategy, Management Support, & Leadership, Job Enrichment and Culture. Considering the Lean and Digital transformation, common criteria in human dimension have been determined and the areas that need to be prioritized in focusing in terms of human dimension have been presented to managers and practitioners. The paper consequently focuses on common area and creating synergies in the health sector, taking into account the human dimension of lean and digital transformation.
