Abstract

The development of secondary flow structures on a low pressure turbine (LPT) endwall is investigated using large eddy simulation approach. The accurate and reliable prediction of secondary flow losses arising from turbine endwall has great influence on the determination of LPT efficiency. The computational effort in this study is carried out using the open source computational fluid dynamics software OpenFOAM. Results show the important effects of secondary flow structures on separated region.
