Abstract

Low quality of concrete and lack of adequate confinement reinforcement are two of the most common deficiencies for existing structures. Utilization of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites against these deficiencies increases day by day. In this study, specimens tested before under the effects of axial loads and reversed cyclic flexure, are repaired and strengthened by using CFRP composites in longitudinal and transverse directions. The repaired and strengthened specimens are tested in similar loading conditions as original specimens. The test results of repaired and strengthened specimens indicated that, the investigated repair and strengthening technique contributed to the strength, ductility and energy dissipation characteristics of the specimens.
