Abstract

This study introduces a hardware and software system that utilize a seismic sensor (geophone) array for automatic detection of earthquake victims. In the hardware system, highresolution external analog-to-digital converters and microprocessors are used to collect data from geophones. The collected data is then transferred to the operation computer via wired or wireless networks. The results of the location determination, based on a fast and operator-independent method using time delay, are displayed on an enhanced interface. Ongoing research is focused on improving the accuracy of direction estimation through cross- correlation calculations and further processing steps.
