Abstract

In this paper, the effects of concentrated photovoltaic solar power are investigated. Seeking for higher power outputs photovoltaic cells is a prominent research area. Using a focal lens to intensify the solar rays on a PV panel is increased the obtained power as expected. But, for longer insolation periods, the output power diminishes due to higher temperatures caused by sun ray concentration. Because PV cells are semiconductors whose their parameters greatly deteriorate with temperature rise. The experiments are conducted for a conventional PV cell using and without using a focal lens. The effects and limitations of solar power concentration is evaluated.
