Abstract
The organic liquid contaminations have a low miscibility with water and move through the pores of soil due to gravitational and capillary forces. The movement of these liquids in soil can be determined by gamma radiation techniques. In this study, the photon interactions of some organic liquid contaminants used in industry have been examined for 1173 and 1332 keV from 60Co using narrow and semi-broad beam geometries. The experimental results are also analyzed in terms of total cross-sections and effective atomic numbers.
