Abstract

Air-jet spinning is the most gentle spinning method, since the fibres are not damaged by opening rollers as in OE-rotor spinning, nor by the ring and/or traveller and, since twist is imparted by air pressure, rather than by rotating parts, the yam production speed is high. The influence of the fibre properties on the characteristics of air-jet-spun yams are discussed, with reference to the fibre raw material, the fibre length, the fibre fineness, the fibre tenacity, the number of wrapping fibres and angles, and the trash content of the raw material.
