Abstract
The production of iron powder from concentrated iron solutions obtained during surface finishing (pickling) carried out to produce zinc or tin coated thin sheets, was investigated. Goethite precipitation from the waste pickle liquors-dehydration-reduction method was used to produce iron powder. In the experiments, the optimum parameters of the chosen method were investigated. The iron powders produced had an average grain size of 4-5 μm, and a specific surface area of 1.2 m2/g, and the product consisted of 99.75% Fe, 0.03% C, 0.015% P and 0.01% S.
